MassChallenge™ UK reveals 42 of its 100 startups founded by women, a record amount achieved by unique and unbiased selection process

MassChallenge has a unique application system that removes bias from the process. The startup applications are initially submitted online, with only the business plan and pitch visible, and reviewed by at least four judges from a network of experts whose scores are then recalibrated and weighted to account for personal biases. Independent expert judges including investors, successful entrepreneurs, and corporate partners, make the decisions as a group.

MassChallenge UK Announces the 100 Startups to Participate in 2016 Accelerator

Applications for the programme came from 69 countries, showing that there is still strong interest in the UK’s tech ecosystem, even after Brexit, with finalists from China (Macau), Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and India, to name a few. Of the 100 teams, 86 teams are from the UK, four are from other European countries, and four teams are from the United States.

The State of Startup/Corporate Collaboration 2016 Study Results Unveiled

The study was the first to interview both startups and corporations on their views about their interactions. The firms surveyed 233 startups and 112 corporate respondents from March 30th to April 24th, 2016. Corporate respondents included Microsoft, Pfizer, KLM, Cisco, Xerox, and IBM, among many other leading companies.
